The Mutiny in Heaven

Genesis 1:1  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Genesis 1:2  And the earth was (became) without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Listed below are only some of the verses that allude to the time between Genesis 1:1, when God created the earth, and Genesis 1:2 when the earth became without form and void. There is no way of knowing how much time passed because the Bible does not say. But we know that God created angels under three leaders: Gabriel, Michael, and Lucifer. These three archangels were responsible for all the other angels. Lucifer, who was called the angel of light, wanted to usurp the throne of God. He caused a sort of mutiny in heaven. Therefore Lucifer was cast out of heaven along with one-third of the angels who, under Lucifer’s leadership, had conspired against God.  After being cast out of heaven, Lucifer became “Satan”, “the serpent”, “the Devil”. He and one-third of the angles of heaven make up the evil-spirit or the devil-spirit world about which people know very little and believe even less.
The mutiny in heaven was so cataclysmic that, while the war was taking place, all that God created in Genesis 1:1 fell into ruin.

Isaiah 14:12  How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

Ezekiel 28:15-19   15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.  16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.  17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.  18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.  19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.

Romans 8:22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

1 Timothy 3:6  Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

Revelation 12:4  And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

The more we know of God's word, the more we know of His will for us. We are spiritual beings, having been born again of incorruptible seed.  We are now body, soul AND spirit. We are quick to believe that angels walk the earth. After all, it was angels who ministered to Jesus when he was tempted by the devil during his 40-day fast prior to the beginning of his ministry. But how unwilling we seem to be when it comes to the adversary. In order to conquer our enemy, we must understand him.  As it states in Ephesians 6:12: "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."  It's the adversary that we fight, on a spiritual battlefield.  But we are already conquerors in this war, for I John 4:4 states ".. greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. "  It's Christ in you, the hope of glory!!
